Welcome to Class 4!

Welcome to our Class 4 page, if you check in on a regular basis you will view a snapshot of the learning that happens in our class.

To enable a smooth transition of daily learning, please remember to send your child with a water bottle and suitable clothing for the weather (especially a coat). As well as this, could you please name all of your child's belongings to help us reunite them effectively and efficiently should they get misplaced. 

Routines for you to remember:

Tuesday-Homework should be returned. Swimming.

Wednesday- PE

Thursday-Homework is handed out.

Friday- Spellings. P.E.

Autumn term 1 learning this half term

⛺️ �� �� �� �� �� Key Stage 2 enjoyed their outdoor learning day today. We enjoyed tasting s'mores, making bubble wands, completing a scavenger hunt, playing rounders, designing a tent flag and ending with water fun! Thank you to all parents who took the time to pitch and take down their tents, it made the day even better. ��

Skipping Festival Winners

Class 4 welcomed royalty to Prior Park, the resident queen bee and her assistants, Anne, Ian and Christopher. They have helped us learn about ecology and the importance of the humble bee.

Class 4 had a fantastic time aboard The Border Belle. This morning, we sailed up the glorious River Tweed where we saw many different types of wildlife and geographical features.

Class 4 have been studying Bridges as part of their Local Geography. We have been doing some research to support our understanding, which will help us present our findings more effectively.

Class 4 really enjoyed competing with other school in the Quad Kids session organised by Haydn from School Games.

Class 4 have been learning about structures, specifically pavilions and beginning the design stage of constructing them.

Class 4 have really enjoyed the singing sessions this week with Michael (The Shanty Man) and Graham Danby the Opera singer. We also welcomed other schools from our town and thoroughly enjoyed making new friends and sharing conversation.

Class 4 have really enjoyed cycling miles for Miles this week

Class 4 thoroughly enjoyed their Tea dance with Olli and Claire from the Better Barracks project.

Class 4 really enjoyed learning about VE Day as well as taking part in the celebrations.

Class 4 have been planting up some seedlings in our greenhouse.

Class 4 have been working scientifically to identify the part played by evaporation and condensation in the water cycle and associate the rate of evaporation with temperature

Class 4 have begun their enquiry to identify why so many people live in Megacities.

Class 4 have completed their D&T project to evaluate existing biscuits, use technical skills to bake biscuits, design and adapt a recipe, make a prototype and then evaluate their creation.

Class 4 have been using a research enquiry in science to investigate how sound travels through different mediums.

Some of our Class 4 pupils took part in the Big Christmas sing to showcase their angelic voices.

�� Key Stage 2 had a fantastic time at Berwick Academy yesterday. They took part in the 'Race to the North Pole' challenge. They had to design, build, test and make changes to get their sleigh to reach the North Pole. ��

�� ��️ This week in science club Class 4 were learning how to build dams to prevent flooding. They also chose different materials to build homes that would keep water out. �� ��️

�� Key Stage 2 had some special visitors this week they introduced us to the book 'Faedom.' They were sent on behalf of the author of the book. They even left us some activities do to. ��‍♀️

To celebrate our learning of Hindu Dharma so far, we learnt about the festival of Diwali. We listened to the story, danced to Hindu Dharma prayer music and created some fabulous Rangoli patterns.

We took part in a virtual author event through Seven Stories. We met author Simon Stephenson and we learnt about his new book, 'The Snowman Code'.

Class 4 were joined by Nichola and Amy from the Life Centre to learn about Earthquakes. We then used our prior knowledge from geography and D&T to construct a building strong enough to withstand an earthquake.

Class 4 have been learning to identify the different teeth and explain their function, as well as design and explain the digestive system.

Class 4 have been learning to sketch and shade to create 3D images.

Class 4 enjoyed their STEM activities with Nichoila and Chloe from the Life Centre. They became ecologists, working scientifically through classifying, identtifying and sorting animals
