Good news! Miss White is back in class this half term and she will share the class with Mrs Punton.

Please continue to ensure your child comes to school with their bookbag, water bottle, PE kit and swimming kit (required on Thursdays). Please also be reminded that there are to be no earrings worn on Thursdays or Fridays and that long hair needs to be tied back at all time.

This half term our topic is 'Earth and Beyond' - we will be learning about the earth's movement in space, the moon, the first moon landing and the solar system.
We will also be continuing to learn about India, as Miss Bowers and Mrs Armstrong will be travelling there in the half term holidays (see our Global Links page for more info).

Welcome to the 2nd half of our Autumn term 2014!
Mrs. Punton will continue to work in class this half term, supported by Miss Bowers (in the mornings) and Mrs Matthews (in the afternoons). Mr Pick will still cover the class on Wednesday and Friday afternoons.
This half term our topic is 'The World Around Us'
We will be looking at the UK, the history of Berwick-upon- Tweed and our local environment and we will be comparing it with Pakistan and India. We will be looking at Christian, Hindu and Muslim fesitvals (e.g. Diwali & Christmas).
If any parents have any items they feel they could support our learning in this topic, we would be most grateful if we could borrow them for a little while (e.g. a local food recipe, local music, items from or inspired by Pakistan/ India, anything relating to Berwick-upon-Tweed- perhaps a photograph or painting?)
If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Thank you, Mrs Punton

Our 'Learn Its'
In maths we have started to learn some 'Learn Its' calculations. These are calculations which we will practice all half term with the aim to eventually know the answer instantly e.g. we need to just 'learn it'. You could practice saying these calculations together at home or you could 'work out' the answer using objects.
The 'Learn Its' for this half term are:
4 + 4 = 8
5 + 5 = 10
2 + 2 = 4
2 + 1 = 3
3 + 3= 6
1 + 1 = 2
2 + 3 = 5
Our 'Learn Its' Jingles
These are the songs we are singing in class to help us learn these calculations.
You could play these and sing-along at home to support your child's ability to remember these calculations
