Reception Class 2019

 

Week beginning 13th July 2020

Dear Reception Class,

This should have been our final week in school and we should have been having lots of fun together before we finished for the Summer Holiday. Sadly, most of us have not seen each other for a very long time but hopefully we will be back in September and you will all be reunited in Year 1 in Mrs Brown's class.

Have a lovely summer holiday and I will see you all in September.

Dear Reception Class,

I hope you had a busy week on your bikes last week. Please send in your photos of you on your bikes so we can upload the photos to our Class Page for everyone to see. A few have been sent in but not many. This week your challenge is to take part in a Virtual Sports Day. Please look at the document below and send your photos to school at admin@tppfs.co.uk

Celebrating Bike Week at Home

Week beginning 15th June 2020

Dear Reception Class,

I hope you are all ok and trying to do a little bit of work every day. If we had been in school this week, we would have been celebrating 'Bike Week' but sadly we are not. However, I am attaching a document with ideas about what you can do at home on your bike. Not very many of you have sent in photos but maybe this week you could all try and send in photos of you on your bikes.

I am looking forward to seeing your photos and will upload them to our Class Page on Thursday.

Dear Reception,

I hope you have all had a lovely half term and enjoyed the sunshine with your family. Below is your timetable for next week and please remember to keep doing your phonics every day. Keep sending photos of your work in and I will put them all together on our Class page this Friday.

This week on Wednesday at 10.30 am you can join in with Boogie Beats through Facebook for 20 minutes of songs and dances with Tracy, who used to work with us in school every week.

Dear Reception Class,

I really hope you are all ok and staying well and safe with your families. Please keep trying to do as much work as you can so you keep your brains working! VE Day Class Photos

Week beginning Monday 11th May 2020

Dear Reception Class,

I hope you have all had a lovely time celebrating VE Day with your families and if you have any photos, please remember to email them to admin@tppfs.co.uk and then they can go on the school website. This week please also take photos of you clapping for carers with your family and email those too as well as any art work you do. I am looking forward to seeing all your photos and all your friends in school will be able to look at them too.

I think lots of you will have celebrated birthdays in lockdown and when we return to school, you will all look so grown up! Week beginning Monday 4th May 2020

Dear Reception Class,

It is hard to believe it is now May and I have not seen you all for so long. I hope you are all managing to access the weekly timetable and are enjoying the daily lessons you can access through it. Please also remember to watch the Read Write Inc. phonics lessons every day.

If we had been in school this week, we would have been finding out about VE day and having a party in our playground to celebrate this day. As well as the weekly timetable I am attaching a information about how you and your family could celebrate VE Day on Friday 8th May. If you do celebrate with your family please send your photos to school at admin@tppfs.co.uk

I am also attaching some information about Boogie Beats, which we love in school and you may want to access Boogie Beats at home.

Hello Reception Class,

I hope you have all managed to follow the timetable and activities I uploaded for you on Monday. I will upload a new timetable on Monday 27th April for next week. I hope you are all tuning into You Tube for your Read Write Inc. Phonics lessons everyday. You are all brilliant readers but you need to keep practising! 

There are so many brilliant resources available online and I will direct you to more next week but it is really important to make sure the sites you access are safe. Below is a link to a free resource, 'Think U Know', you can look at with your parents. It is a series of animations for you to watch about Jessie and her friends and it will give you the skills and confidence to keep yourself safe which is so important.

Hello Reception Class,

There is now a collection of resources to support parents in their home learning endeavours on the Northumberland County Council website. The resources can be found at https://www.northumberland.gov.uk/Home.aspx. You will see a blue box on the right hand side entitled “Are there any home schooling resources?” These resources are being added to all the time and are worth a look.

Good morning to you all! Please make sure you are doing all your jobs that are set out in your book, don't skip any and you will become reading, writing and number experts.

Keep looking outside and noticing what is happening, keep a diary of what you see and try drawing what you see.

I am going to bake a cake today so could you try and bake something. Try and write down the ingredients, measure carefully and take a photo of your creation.

We have been celebrating World Book Day and some of made a Book in a Jar at home. The jars were so beautiful and the poor judge had a hard job deciding who would win!
Welcome back to the New Year and we have started our new term with a yoga session. Every week Rhiannon Fleming from 'My Yogi Bairns' is coming to work with us. This week we learnt about how yoga began and some new yoga moves.
We learned all about Chinese New Year and how the Chinese people celebrate New Year. We watched dragon dances and ate noodles with chopsticks, which was very tricky!
Four real owls have been to visit our class. They were Saffy a Barn Owl, Dudley a Little Owl, Tinko a Scobs Owl and Rolo a European Eagle Owl. We were able to ask lots of questions and watch them fly. The owls were beautiful and very friendly.
We are reading the story, 'Owl Babies' by Martin Waddell and we are loving being scientists and finding out all about owls. We have learned lots of interesting facts and we are hoping some real owls are coming to visit us soon.
Christmas is nearly here and we had our Christmas Party with Nursery. We played lots of games and a special visitor came to visit. We all had a lot of fun.
It was our Christmas Play today, 'Snowman at Sunset'. Here are some photos of our play which we enjoyed taking part in.
Today in school we have watched the pantomime 'Dick Whittington' and it was a lot of fun. Here are some photos of the show which we all enjoyed.
Reception Class have been to Hillside Lodge to take part in Intergenerational dancing. The children loved dancing with the elderly residents and we want to go back!
To celebrate 'Children in Need', we have all dressed in something bright or spotty. We watched Rylan finish his 24 hour Ka-RY-oke and we met Pudsey Bear. It has been fun!
We are learning to use the apparatus this term and move in different ways. We are getting much more confident at using it.
We have been learning all about 2D shapes and their properties. We have been shape detectives and have had fun building pictures with shapes. Here are some photos of what we have been doing.

The children have quickly settled into their new class with Miss White, Mrs Purvis and Mrs Redden. Please remember to send your child with their book folder and water bottle every day. This term we have PE on Monday and Thursday so please remember to take any earrings out.

This term our topic is 'All about me'. Please click on the link below to find out about what we are learning about.
This week we have had Arts Week in school and it has all been based around colour. Reception Class were given the colour red to explore. We have experimented with the colour red and added white and black to red, to create tints and shades of red. We have also learnt lots of new words that all mean red including scarlet, burgundy and rouge. Here are some photos of our us making our red piece of art.
Danni came to teach us our to Bollywood Dance. We all learnt some great moves and loved the music.
We made delicious Harvest soup and baked bread.
Today we have been learning about our five different senses. We went on a walk around school to see what we could see, hear, taste, smell and touch.
Mrs Mascall works in Reception Class every Thursday. This week the children went on a walk to look for signs of autumn.
We have been reading the story, 'The Little Red Hen, and learning about how the farmers harvest the wheat, grind the flour and make the bread. The bread we made was delicious.
In Reception Class we have been learning how important it is to eat healthy food. Today we all made fruit smoothies and they were delicious!
