Class 3
Welcome to Class 3
Thank you for viewing our class page. Here you will find information and photographs of what we have been learning in school.
Please remember to come to school organised making sure you bring your reading record signed by a parent or guardian every day. You will also need to bring a water bottle to school every day.
Our PE days will be Wednesdays and Fridays. Our uniform on these days will be a red or white polo top/PE t-shirt as well as black or grey joggers/shorts and trainers. On Monday afternoons we will be swimming please bring your swimming costume, a towel and goggles. Remember earrings will need to be removed on these days.

In Geography we have been competing the summer and winter climate in the UK

Bike Week
We have been learning that darkness is the absence of light
In design and technology we learnt to recognise that 2D and 3D shapes are combined to form a strong and stable structure
We have been acting out forms of seed dispersal
We had Mr Robson from the Honey Farm come in and teach us all about his job. We then had a lesson on pollination.

We have been investigating stem transportation.
Coronation Week
We were scientists when we completed learning outdoors this week. We took photographs of the different plants around school.

After completing the live quiz lesson we chose to help our local area by completing a litter pick.

Our Science Week Competition Winners
We took part in a live quiz to learn about protecting our planet
Science Week- This year we chose the theme 'space' we took part in lots of activities to increase our knowledge of space.
Kielder Observatory Workshops- We were able to go inside the planetarium and learn all about constellations we also enjoyed a space rocks workshop- all of the rocks we held were from space!

Music with Mrs Stephenson- using instruments in our musical performances.
Parent Workshop- We made moon craters and observed the impact when we dropped the meteors from different heights
In Computing we have been learning to create and use algorithms.
In Geography we have been learning to use maps and atlases to identify peninsulas.
Igneous Rock Formation
Because of the snow we decided to have a Key Stage 2 investigation. Each class estimated the volume of water that would remain inside the jar after the snow melted. It also provided us with an opportunity to discuss states of matter.
We were finally able to make snow people!
In History we are archaeologists studying artefacts to find evidence. This helped us answer the question 'Who is the Amesbury Archer?'
In Computing we are learning to code using Scratch

World Book Day
In Science we have been learning to explain sedimentary rock formation by layering sedimentary sandwiches.
In Science we have been using the outdoors, photographing and identifying rocks on our school grounds while using scientific language to describe their properties.
Hadyn from Northumberland School Games came to judge our Key Steps routine for the Northumberland School Games gymnastics competition.

Children's Mental Health Week. We had a session with Choices 4 Growth and completed the Spiderman StormBreak activity

Arts week, we created digital images inspired by the book 'Planet in a pickle jar'. We also looked at artwork by Sherry Eggar and this inspired us to create our own artwork using zoomed in parts of objects.

In Art we have been learning about the artist L S Lowry. We viewed some of his artwork and made observations.
The Fire Service came to remind us how to stay safe
We have been learning to create a dramatic reconstruction in English using the characters' inner voices.

We competed in the virtual Multi-skills festival representing North Northumberland
In RE we studied images to help us sequence and summarise the Big Bible Story.
We labelled and identified different joints in our bodies such as ball and socket, hinge and gliding

We completed a range of exercises to show how our muscles help us move. We then created a muscle model to show how they relax and contract.
